Chances are that each of you is already good at something. Perhaps you play a musical instrument. Maybe you’ve learned to do magic tricks. You might have excelled in a sport in high school. You might have made a difference in someone else’s life. In each case, the skills you’ve already developed didn’t happen overnight. Studying a new subject is no different. Some students enter their freshman year with experiences that give them a head start in engineering. This can be intimidating to students who didn’t have those advantages.
