7.10. Create PT Practice¶
This lesson provides students with practice for answering the Create Performance Task prompts. Students examine a pre-developed app that is an educational memory app that allows users to practice learning a different language. The game's code contains all of the programming requirements to satifsy the College Board's Create Performance Task scoring guidelines. Students will practice responding to the Create Performance Task prompts based on the code provided with this app.

7.10.1. Learning Activities¶
Estimated Length: 180 minutes
Hook/Motivation (5 minutes):
- Explain that in preparation for the Create Performance Task, students will need to be able to respond to prompts about their code. As practice, students will use this already developed Learning Game app. Preview the app with students and allow them to see how the app works and review the code.
Experiences and Explorations (165 minutes):
- Enhancements (40-75 minutes) - Assign the enhancements activity. Give students time, as a class or in pairs, to try adding the suggested enhancements to the code. Students can use the enhancement progress tracking to document their progress on the suggested enhancements. Note that none of the enhancements will influence the written activity. The enhancements are for helping students to understand how the game works (i.e. how the game is programmed). Save approximately 15 minutes to review the enhancement solutions with the class. be sure to provide feedback and address any questions students may have.
- Create Performance Task Write-Up Activity (90 minutes) - After completing and reviewing the enhancements, assign the students the Create Task prompts. Ask them to work independantly to fill in the submission document with their written responses.
Rethink, Reflect and/or Revise (10 minutes):
- Ask the students to complete the interactive exercises at the bottom of the Mobile CSP Lesson
- Ask the students to review their responses and make any final revisions before submitting.
The College Board's AP Classroom provides a question bank and Topic Questions. You may create a formative assessment quiz in AP Classroom, assign the quiz (a set of questions), and then review the results in class to identify and address any student misunderstandings.The following are suggested topic questions that you could assign once students have completed this lesson.
